Tiago Pires

Software engineer & researcher

I'm a software engineer at Cabo Verde Broadcast and an MSc researcher at the University of Cabo Verde. I build backend and full-stack systems, study the security of IoT deployments, and I'm increasingly focused on how AI and digital infrastructure can serve small island states.

Three threads

  1. 01 / engineering

Building systems for a national broadcast network

At Cabo Verde Broadcast I work on the software that monitors and manages the country's digital terrestrial television network — and on the network itself, in the field.

  2. 02 / research

Security of IoT systems in Cabo Verde

My MSc dissertation studies vulnerabilities in IoT systems used for water, agriculture and monitoring. At RS2Lab I work on IoT for agricultural monitoring.

  3. 03 / direction

AI and digital transformation for small island states

I'm increasingly interested in how AI and modern digital infrastructure can improve public services and industry in places like Cabo Verde.
