About

I grew up in Cabo Verde, and my way into computing went through mathematics: between 2015 and 2018 I won medals at the Cabo Verde Mathematical Olympiad, and a bronze at the CPLP Mathematical Olympiad in 2017.

I studied Informatics and Computing Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). The projects I enjoyed most there — a compiler, a concurrent game server, device drivers, security labs, optimisation algorithms — taught me to care about how systems behave under load, under failure and under attack, not only whether they work.

In December 2024 I joined Cabo Verde Broadcast in Praia, the company responsible for the country's digital terrestrial television network. I build the software used to monitor and manage that network, and I also work in the field, testing and repairing the infrastructure the software describes. Seeing both the dashboard and the transmitter site has shaped how I think about engineering.

Alongside work, I'm completing an MSc in Informatics Engineering at the University of Cabo Verde, with a dissertation on vulnerabilities in IoT systems, and I'm a research fellow at RS2Lab working on IoT for agricultural monitoring. I'm also AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.

In September 2026 I took part in a seminar in China on AI and digital transformation for Global South countries, with visits to technology companies in Beijing and Hangzhou. It sharpened a question I want to keep working on: how a small island state can adopt AI and modern digital infrastructure in ways that serve its public services, its industry and its people.
